Ahmed Ragheb, lawyer of the well-known activist and journalist Esraa Abdel Fattah, has sent a request to the attorney general, the interior minister and other concerned officials demanding Esraa is admitted to hospital to save her life.
On October 13, Esraa started a hunger strike as a protest against the fact that her complaint about torture had not been investigated by police.
On October 16, Esraa was referred to forensic medicine to prove she had been tortured, however the prosecution refused to allow the report to be released.
Complaints about torture have increased since the latest crackdown by Egyptian authorities since the September protests and provoked international condemnation against Egyptian authorities, who have not responded to the complaints.
