The April 6 Youth Movement announced last Wednesday that 12 of its
members in Damietta Governorate were arrested on Tuesday.
A number of activists on Facebook wrote that the arrest campaign came
ahead of the anniversary of the 25 January revolution.
The family of the health and education researcher Mohamed Abdel
Ghany wrote on Facebook that he had been forcibly disappeared since
he was arrested from his home in Dakahlia Governorate last Saturday.
Mohamed was working on a project to promote the protection of school
children in the Dakahlia and Damietta governorates, in affiliation with
Terre des hommes, a Swiss organisation working to help children
through health programmes in 45 countries around the world.
Mohamed’s family demanded his place of detention is revealed and that
he is provided with health care because he suffers from injuries to his
backbone.
The family submitted a report to the Attorney General to demand
Mohamed Abdel Ghany’s whereabouts, and held the security services
and the Ministry of Interior responsible for his physical and
psychological safety.
