All chest unit doctors at Ain Shams University infected with coronavirus

The former Egyptian Minister of Health, the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, Muhammad Awad Taj al-Din, revealed that all doctors of the chest unit at Ain Shams University have been infected with coronavirus.

This came in statements on the sidelines of the celebration of the completion of the development and equipping of the chest care unit and the diagnostic and therapeutic chest endoscopy unit at Ain Shams University Hospitals, according to Egyptian media. Taj al-Din said, “All the doctors, including assistant teachers and representatives in the chest unit at Ain Shams University, were infected with coronavirus, and this is a tax for their hard work, whether they work in university hospitals or Ministry of Health hospitals.” After the former minister of health, most of the aforementioned doctors have recovered and have offered their greetings to all Egyptian and international doctors who offer their lives to treat patients. On the other hand, the number of Egyptian doctors who died due to being infected with coronavirus during their work increased to 205.

Today, the Egyptian Medical Syndicate mourned Dr. Mohamed Wahba, a consultant to the head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rheumatology at Farskor Hospital, who was the latest victim. For its part, the Ministry of Health and Population announced today, Monday, that 100 people who have recovered have been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total of those recovering from the virus to 101,981 cases until today.

Dr. Khaled Mujahid, advisor to the minister of health and population for media affairs and the official spokesperson for the ministry, stated that 354 new cases were recorded and there were 12 new deaths. Mujahid stated that the total number that was registered in Egypt with coronavirus until Monday is 113,381, including 101,981 recoveries and 6,560 deaths.
