The UK government has issued a report on the state of medical education and practice in the country. It mentioned that the number of Egyptian doctors immigrating to the UK increased by 202%. The report said that 435 Egyptian doctors immigrated to the UK in 2017, and the number increased in 2018 to 756, and then it increased again to 1,301 in 2019. In 2020, it decreased to 1,220, only to increase to 1,312 in 2021.

Egypt comes after Jordan and Sudan in the number of doctors immigrating to the UK from the Middle East. The number of doctors in the UK increased between 2017 and 2021 by 17%.

The Egyptian Medical Syndicate warned in April of the increasing efforts of doctors to migrate outside the country due to poor working conditions, revealing the resignation of 11,536 doctors since 2019. It called on the government to intervene to improve the conditions of doctors. The number of Egyptian doctors until the end of 2018 at 212,835, of whom only 82,000 work in Egypt. Therefore, 8.6% of doctors for every 10,000 people in Egypt.
