Egyptian Medical Syndicate accuses police officers of killing a psychiatrist

On Thursday, the Egyptian Medical Syndicate filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor accusing the head of the Gamasa police station and other officers of killing consultant psychiatrist Ragai Wafai. The syndicate demanded an urgent investigation by the department officials regarding what it said about Wafai’s torture and killing. Also, Wafai’s family submitted a complaint to the Public Prosecutor, requesting to conduct an urgent investigation.

The deceased doctor faced ill-treatment by police officers during his pre-trial detention, according to his family, and was subjected to psychological and physical torture. Wafai was in pre-trial detention pending a medical malpractice case. The Public Prosecution Office has ordered an autopsy on Wafai’s body.
