The Alexandria Criminal Court has renewed the detention of lawyer Mohamed Ramadan for 45 days on case No. 16576 of 2018 on charges of publishing false news and abusing social media sites. Mohamed Ramadan, a human rights lawyer, was arrested on December 10 and accused of possessing five yellow jackets in preparation for protests against the background of the yellow vest protests in France.

The Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms said Ramadan suffers from clogging in the coronary artery and swelling in the foot. The prison administration dismissed his transfer to the hospital. The Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms said in a statement that Ramadan’s next session is on April 1 and has called on authorities to transfer him to hospital for treatment to save his life.
