Eid al-Adha prayer held in Egypt

The Egyptian authorities decided to hold Eid prayers with the same rules that were applied during the last Eid al-Fitr in light of the outbreak of coronavirus. The decision was taken at the meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Management of the epidemic.

The Ministry of Endowments stated that the Eid al-Adha prayers will be transferred from the Sayyida Nafisa Mosque with a limited number of endowment workers, and the takbeers of the Eid will be raised through loudspeakers via the Qur’an radio only. In a statement, the ministry affirmed that worshippers will not attend mosques to perform Eid prayers, and it will be limited to the imam and workers assigned to broadcast the takbeers. The government stressed in its meeting the need to continue to prevent crowding and mixing, wearing masks in closed places and transportation, to ensure that the coronavirus does not spread. Egypt has recorded 91,072 cases of the new coronavirus and 4,518 deaths.
