The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics announced that the general consumer price index reached 107.5 points for the month of April 2020, registering an increase of (1.6 per cent) for the month of March 2020. It attributed this rise to the increase in the prices of the fruit group by 13.9 per cent and the vegetable group by 9.5 per cent.
Fish and seafood increased by 9.1 per cent, meat and poultry by 5.5 per cent, and the group of dairy, cheese and eggs by 0.4 per cent. Clothes increased by 0.5 per cent, and the outpatient services group increased by 0.9 per cent. There is a decrease in the group of spending on private transport by -2.9 per cent.
The annual inflation rate for the total of the republic recorded (5.9 per cent) for the month of April 2020 compared to 12.5 per cent for the same month of the previous year.
