College student tries to set teacher on fire

A third year student at the Faculty of Commerce at Alexandria University who assaulted his professor has been imprisoned. The student beat his professor around the head with a gun, poured petrol on him and then tried to set him on fire.

On January 21, Dr. Mahmoud Ragab, a professor of public finance and head of the exam board, transferred the student to the college’s disciplinary committee and dismissed him for a year after he disrupted the exams.

The Minister of Higher Education, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, instructed the school to take disciplinary measures against the student by expelling him. He will not be able to register with any other university.
