The Egyptian judiciary is witnessing major changes, including the promotion of many senior judges in Egypt.

General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi appointed Abdalla Issar as the successor to Majdi Abul-Ela, the former president of the court of Cassation and the Supreme Judicial Council, after the latter reached the mandatory retirement age on June 30.

Al-Sisi also appointed Issam Al-Menshawi as the successor to Amani Al-Rifai as head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority, after Amani reached retirement age.

These appointments came according to 2019 constitutional amendments that granted al-Sisi the authority to select heads of judicial bodies.
