The State Security Prosecution has ordered the detention of Mostafa Sakr, the owner of Business News, the publisher of Al-Borsa daily and Daily News Egypt news website, for 15 days on remand. Mohamed Saad, a staff member of the Syndicate of Journalists, told Mada Masr that a security force arrested Sakr early Sunday morning and took him to Nasr City Police Station then to the State Security Prosecution. Abdel Latif added that the Syndicate of Journalists was informed informally, but they didn’t know what the accusations were because a decision was issued so quickly, before a syndicate lawyer could attend.

Late 2016, the Seizure and Management Committee of Muslim Brotherhood Funds seized Sakr’s company, then issued a decision to hand over the financial and rental affairs of the company to a committee affiliated to Akhbar el-Yom Agency. Sakr denied any political affiliation.
