Sherif Roby: Egyptian activist re-arrested weeks after releasing

Monday, Sherif El-Roby, ex-spokesman of the April 6 Movement and member of the Constitution Party, was re-arrested less than four months after his release, said the Constitution Party in a statement, warning of a re-arrest campaign against released detainees.

The secret police arrested Al-Ruby, and the Public Prosecution charged him with spreading false news and joining a terrorist group.

The Constitution Party expressed astonishment to see Robi reimprisoned while authorities promised to release more political detainees. Robi, who was jailed for about two years before a court decided to release him in May, had written before the re-arrest that he was facing police harassment.
